Added thousands of acres of open space in our beautiful foothills to the protected column.

Increased park space, including additional dog parks and expanded off-leash hours.

Expanded recreational opportunities, including the new Whitewater River Park.

Protected worker’s safety by eliminating smoking in bars.

Strengthened public safety. Crime rates are at historic lows in the City of Boise.

Our bus system will soon expand services – accomplished during difficult economic times.

A strengthened recycling program, to include no-sort recycling and a glass pick-up option.

Implemented the vast majority of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategies, as recommended for climate protection.

Protected all citizens from discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Assisted public education initiatives.

Improved sidewalks and bicycle lanes. Increased cyclist safety on our streets.

Worked to attract new businesses to the area (garnering one of the lowest unemployment rates in Idaho).

Spear-headed first Living Wage Policy in Idaho. Setting a standard for local businesses to follow.

Transparent Government: TJ is highly accessible to the Citizens of Boise. He listens to citizen concerns and innovative ideas, and acquires the opinions and expertise from all parties involved on the issues we are facing together.

Steward of Fiscal Responsibility: The Boise City Council holds the important responsibility of overseeing the city budget. TJ has served as a Certified Internal Auditor and fiscal steward at the federal, state, and private levels for over a decade. TJ maintains the budgeting and analytical skills necessary to watch over our citizens’ resources and ensure they are spent correctly. TJ continues to seek out ways to stretch every tax payer dollar as far as possible, including innovative ideas like Adopt-a-Park, which was implemented recently in Boise – a program that allows citizens to adopt a maintenance project at their local park. An idea that has saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in other communities. Also, as an experienced policy analyst, TJ has helped to assure our city programs are working efficiently and assisted our department leaders to improve existing operations.
